Bi-Weekly Video Fishing Report & Forecast - April 25th Edition

Ivan Orsic / Apr 25, 2019

Trouts own Ivan Orsic is back to talk about the current river and fishing conditions throughout Colorado. It looks like we are going to experience a slow warm up over the next two weeks in the high country with the possibility of rain that could bump flows.

Blue Wings continue to hatch along the South Platte and cloudy days are key to finding rising fish. As we progress through the hatch, we like throwing emergers, cripples, and less popular dries as the fish start to wise up to the standards. Caddis continue to get more active along the South Platte and caddis nymphs will continue to become more and more productive.

Along the freestones, we've seen a little bump in flows and expect to see elevated flows as we get warmer temperatures and rain events in the high country. With the exception of the Arkansas, many of our favorite freestones are starting to lose clarity with bumps in flows.

With these bumps, we'd recommend throwing bigger flies like; Pat's Rubberlegs, Worms, Leeches, Hare's Ears, Copper Johns, and of course, STREAMERS!
