Each week we choose one report from our Guide Reports section of the Guide Report page! Click the Guide Report dropdown and you'll find up-to-date Guide Reports from our professional fly fishing guides. Each report will detail the location, timing, hatch information, fly selection, and rigging. This week's Guide Report is brought to you by our very own Sean Cowman. Read below to hear about Sean Cowman and his recent half-day walk/wade trip on the Blue River! According to Sean, This is still a great time to wade this section of the Blue River. Stay tuned to our Guide Reports section of the website for more reports from various rivers as we continue to get clients out on some of our favorite water. If you are interested in booking a trip with one of our Professional Fly Fishing guides click HERE.

The Blue river this time of year tends to be hit or miss. Over the last week that is exactly what I have experienced. Certain days will produce multiple quality fish on a half-day, others you are lucky to hook a few and land one or two. Persistence and patience are key when dealing with these variable days. There tends to be a good feeding window that will only last for a small period of time as well, capitalize on this time! I have found 8:30 am-11:30 am to be the best, and as I mentioned, that is always changing! Stick with it. Flies that you can't really go wrong with, and I have found most successes are: Brown leech #16, Black Beauty #20, Grey RS2 #20, Rainbow Warrior #18, Jig Frenchie #18 + #20, and lastly smaller hoppers, yes, believe it or not, those picky Blue River trout are very willing to eat a hopper from the surface, even with these low flows, try it!
