Gear Review: Nomad Guide Landing Net

Ivan Orsic / Jun 28, 2011

What we say

This net is made of a carbon-fiber graphite composite which makes the net very lightweight, yet durable and will tuck down the side of your pack and be relatively out-of the way of your legs. (For my height I need four inches lopped off the bottom of the handle.) A huge upside to this net is the fact that it floats on the surface of the water and does not gradually start to sink over time. This net would be great for any kind of boater, from your bass boat to your float tube. This net is not only functional - it has a great look! The net is dark green through the handle until it switches to carbon fiber print on the top of the net, with a Nomad badge on the base of the bag. Besides its beautiful look, it is very durable! It may have taken a few rock bites when my "lady friend" attempted to land a few trout for me, and it might have gotten kicked off the boat a few times, but this net hardly shows sign of my abuse. The only downside of this net to me is, the hoop on the net needs to be eight inches wider and the bag needs to be eight inches deeper. The way it is now would is perfect for Trout, but since I spend most of my time chasing carp, bass, and other warm water fish, I need a bigger bag. After having several of my friends use this net while carp fishing, they agree that this net needs a deeper bag so the tail of the fish sits down securely in the bag. After testing this net I would rather own a Nomad landing net than a traditional wood handle net. I try an always support hand-crafted goods, but when it comes to how the Nomad compares up to a wood net, I will choose the durability of the Nomad Landing net.

What they say

The Nomad Guide Net is the only composite guide net on the market. After buying and breaking a few wooden guide nets it was time to improve the design. These nets are made out of a mixture of carbon fiber and fiberglass. The result is a very lightweight durable net. No more breakage when walking through willows, stepping into the boat, or netting fish covered in weeds. Nomad nets are built for the conditions that prevail where great fishing exists; they are waterproof, UV protected, and float like a cork. Nomad nets come standard with a rubber bag.
