Gear Short: Simms Headwaters Guide Hip Pack

Ivan Orsic / Feb 28, 2014

In Today’s Gear Short we’re going to show you the Simms Headwaters Guide Hip Pack. This fly fishing hip pack is designed and built to carry a lot of gear and take a beating. Here are a few highlights that caught our attention:

· Molded front panel with a built in fly patch. In addition to giving the contents of the pack added protection, the panel opens into a large workbench which is convenient for river side use

· Big YKK zippers with easy to access pull tabs make getting in and out of Guide Hip Pack easy and quick

· Once the pack is open, you’ll find a divider that will help keep your gear and fly boxes well organized

· In addition to the divider you will find twelve stretch mesh pockets that will help you minimize the chaos inside your pack – great for leader, tippet, split shot the rest of your terminal tackle

· Stretch mesh pocket designed specifically for a water bottle. - having the pocket centered on the bottom of the pack will help increase the overall balance the pack as it rides on your waist

· There are also easy to adjust straps on the bottom of the pack that can be used to hike in a fly rod tube or a rain jacket
