Lower Colorado River Report

Ivan Orsic / Aug 20, 2012

As expected, with the water clearing on the Lower Colorado River fishing is really starting to heat up. We reached out to our good friend Pete Mott, Owner of Trout Trickers in Gypsum, CO for a brief update on the current conditions on the Colorado below Glenwood Springs. Pete's report is super encouraging and leads us to believe that fishing across Colorado is about to turn on big time.

For the first time since late June, the lower Colorado is now clear and fishing beyond excellent. None of these fish have been touched for 6 weeks or more with all the severe rain and mudslides we experienced most of July, which kept the water off color and un fishable. The trout are hungry and eating with enthusiasm.
The last three days of guiding has put 20 to 30 fish in the net, most over 16"; two days ago we landed 3 over 20" and yesterday we caught a 22" brown.

August 22nd, 26th and 30th are still available and there are plenty of openings still left in September and October.
Hope to see you soon,

Pete Mott
