Make Sure You’ve Got Plenty Of Mysis!

Ivan Orsic / Jan 29, 2015

For those unaware, the Blue River flows out of Dillon Reservoir from a bottom release dam...well at least it did until some repairs to the 50 year old gates were needed. Starting last July, water has been being diverted through a seperate pipe to maintian flows while the necessary repairs were underway. There's still plenty of testing to be done regarding the repairs, and flows are sure to see quite a bit of fluctuation over the next month or so (and probably remain somewhat high as they make room for when the snow starts to melt in the spring), however the good news for any angler hitting the river will be the unbelievable influx of mysis shrimp being dumped into the system after months of being held back. The fish should be on the feed in a big way and I'm sure it won't be long until countless pictures of obese trout begin to make their way around Instagram and Facebook.

Check back regularly. We'll be sure to keep you up to speed on any and all we hear regarding the Blue River in the months to come.
