Trouts Journal

My Favorite 5- web edition

Ivan Orsic / Dec 31, 2014

While I'm sure heading to the river, bundling up, breaking ice off your guides every few minutes and in general keeping the "I'm a badass" "grin and bear it" mentality high, will put some fish in your frozen net....the weather outside certainly lends itself slightly more to sweatpants, slippers and cruising around the web on the couch.

As much as I love to be on the water, spending some off-season days (particularly where the Farenheit is in the teens) with the wife and dogs, hanging on the couch and catching up on some much needed R&R can do the mind/body quite good.

So, with this in mind, here are my 5 favorite fishing related 'current events' -so to speak- from some of the websites I frequent.

Afterall, just because I'm not fishing doesn't mean I'm still not thinking about fishing.

1.) Repost from Gink and Gasoline- The Masters of Hyperbole (Because everyone has exaggerated a fish story...maybe)

2.) Repost from Field and Stream's Fly Talk- 50 Places To Fly Fish Before You Die Becomes A TV Show (As I shake my head saying, "Why didn't I think of that?!)

3.) Repost from Klug Photos- www.klugphotos.com I think the evolution of the many a budding fly fisher almost always leaves them at a crossroads with photography. You either get really into it, or just don't. No matter what your photographic level of expertise may be, spending some time on Jim Klug's website browsing photos is always a great way to spend some time. PLUS- there are galleries for many of the places Trouts is hosting trips in 2015, including Belize, Alaska, Montana and Mexico!

4.) Repost from Fin Chasers Fly Fishing Magazine- Fly-Fishing E-zine's are becoming more and more popular. The latest one from Fin Chasers doesn't disappoint. *disclaimer- don't read if sunny skies, destination travel, beaches and big fish give you the blues.

5.) Repost from The Fiberglass Manifesto- Gear Review: Flycraft USA Stealth these little two-man inflatables first caught my attention earlier this year and seem like they would be ideal for running some of our local rivers. Anyone up for float fishing Deckers?.....
