Photo Essay: Cuba 2018 Recap

Ivan Orsic / Jun 29, 2018

In April 2017, I had a last minute opportunity to explore the archipelago surrounding Cayo Largo, Cuba with Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures. The trip was unique in that I knew nothing about fly fishing in Cuba (other than what friends had parted on me), and I knew nothing of the fishery of Cayo Largo. Needless to say upon my return I booked a prime week in June 2018 to enjoy with a group of Trouts customers.

This marks only the second time I have returned to an international destination in nearly 20 years, which speaks volumes about the experience offered at Cayo Largo, and Cuba as a whole. The culture is rich in personality, history and passion, and the fishery is well.... one of a kind. While the weather during our week could have been better, the Tarpon were grabby, the bonefish big, and the permit, well they were permit. But memories were made on a daily basis, and good times were had by all.

Stay tuned for future Cuba dates for 2019. In the meantime, enjoy some photos from our trip.
