Photo Essay: Trouts #OptOutside River Cleanup at Deckers

Ivan Orsic / Nov 29, 2017

First and foremost, we would like to thank everyone who helped out with this #OptOutside River Cleanup this past Black Friday. We've done a handful of river cleanups at Deckers and on the Blue this year and the turnout this time around was impressive, to say the least. It was encouraging to see so many new and familiar faces the day after Thanksgiving and we can safely say that the South Platte is better because of it. We all know that Deckers is a well-loved stretch of water. It was our pleasure to give back to this popular stretch of water and leave it better than we found it. We can't wait until the next one. Stay tuned to our blog, Facebook, and Instagram for more upcoming events.

The parking lot of the Sedalia Post Office was packed at 8 AM.

The Deckers Resort stretch produced some of the weirdest trash including two dead mice trapped in a beer bottle.

Filling bags!

Josh and his daughter working on their second bag.

An impressive haul from the Nighthawk access including a tent and some random car parts.

Ehhh, we can fit one more bag in Tanner's truck.

These inner tubes had seen better days.

No hillside was untouched. Here, Jon's group scours the high bank for garbage.

Tanner's truck was filled to the brim.

Cracking a couple victory beers before lunch was served.

Those who know Dave, know that a dumb joke or three will be told around a couple hot dogs and some cold ones.

A solid haul from our morning.

Trouts Denver's Matt Todd threw some line with the Scott Radian 904.

Shop dogs Barrett and Howser chose an interesting route right through the prime run. Drew keeping his rod tip high in hopes that the drift would remain true.

Dave's son, Drew, was in the pressure cooker, as he was heckled by four bystanders (myself, Tucker, Scott Dickson, and his own father).

Head Trouts Guide, Scott Dickson shows off a reasonably sized adult midge.

Dave showing off his only fish of the afternoon, a rare Deckers brookie. His first in his countless years on this river.
