Project Healing Waters & MSLBMDA Brewfest: Event Follow-up.

Ivan Orsic / Dec 28, 2014

It's been a little over a month now since the Project Healing Waters/MSLBMDA Brewfest event, but a follow-up of the event is definitely in order.

First off, if you missed this event, don't be a repeat offender next year. The monies raised during this event go directly towards Project Healing Waters. I believe most everyone these days is aware of PHWFF, but in the event you aren't, Project Healing Waters is a non-profit organizaiton dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education, outings, fly tying, rod building, fly casting and knot tying.

I've attended wounded warrior type events, fishing tournaments, etc for a number of years at this point. Still, they never fail to leave me feeling incredibly humbled at the end of each event after meeting some of our troops and donating my efforts for such a good cause.

This years Brewfest featured many local businesses, particularly from the beer/spirit making industry. Needless to say, the tasty beverages were plentiful. A major part of the night is a silent auction, which was a huge success. Trouts Fly Fishing was proud to donate a fully guided fly fishing trip to our Exclusive Property, The Rowdy Trout Ranch and two lucky anglers will be spending a day on the property in the months to come!

Even with the poor weather that graced the evening, the folks in attendance were thankfully still in the giving mood and at the end of the night a check for $24, 861.34 was handed over to Project Healing Waters. This money makes up a huge part of their annual budget and everyone who donated money through silent auction items, or the live auction at the end, should take great pride knowing they helped to make a substantial difference in countless veteren's lives.

Trouts Fly Fishing will no doubt be in attendance for the 2015 Brewfest and we hope to see everyone there!
