The Tape Deck // A Weekly Playlist (Volume 22)

Brandon Rodriguez / Dec 4, 2021

As we round out another week here at the shop, it is time to give my weekly rundown of the happenings of the week, my favorite products, and of course some easy listening jams. For many across the state of Colorado, it looks like the recent drop in temperatures opened up some ski lifts and put a little dusting on some of our favorite pieces of tailwaters. As I typically do here on the Tape Deck I like to go over some of my favorite products from the week. However, I covered a majority of my favorite products over on my latest Stocking Stuffer Gift Guide. Read a bit about it below.

If you are looking to get a head start on your holiday shopping for the angler in your life, look no further than our Stocking Stuffer gift guide. The best stocking stuffers are timeless gifts. Although stocking specific items are typically small items found on the lower section of the price spectrum, they often pack the most bang for your buck compared to those big-ticket items. From tools you never knew you needed to socks and glassware, we here at Trouts Fly Fishing have compiled a list of great stocking stuffer ideas that will make any angler happy. Oh, and these little presents won't break the bank either. If you are looking to expand your list of stocking stuffer ideas, head over to our Best Fly Fishing Gift Under $25 and Best Fly Fishing Gifts Under $50, and if you want to see our complete 2021 Fly Fishing Gift Guide broken down by price point, click here!

Today I am covering 5 of my favorite items from that list! Oh and a revamp of some easy listening jams. Enjoy!

Rising Big Nippa

When it comes to fly fishing accessories, a pair of nippers is an indispensable tool for any angler, regardless of their skill level. When searching for which nippers are best, the pair that stands out above the rest is Rising's Big Nippa. The Rising Big Nippa is one of the top-selling fly fishing tools on the market and is an overall staff favorite here at Trouts Fly Fishing.

Rep Your Water Beer Can Glass

The best companion to a delicious beverage: RepYourWater Beer Can glasses. Whether it's for a hoppy pale ale, a light Kolsch, or a glass of water, you want it surrounded by the perfect design. These glasses are sold individually, so you can make sure each one of your loved ones this holiday season gets the gift of a 16 oz originally designed pint glass.

RepYourWater Enamel Camp Mug

What better way to enjoy your morning coffee or evening beverage of choice than in handmade enamelware showing your love of fishing? There isn't one. The RepYourWater Enamel Camp Mug is great for hot or cold beverages, travels quickly, and is handmade. Due to the nature of handmade production, minor differences and imperfections can exist on mugs. Caution: hot beverages will make the mug hot. Handle carefully with hot liquids.

Fishpond Tacky Pescador Fly Box

We're reaching for the Pescador most days, a waterproof, grab-and-go system for technical tailwater bugs and bushy high mountain hoppers to smaller saltwater crabs and shrimp. These ultra-durable boxes will keep a full complement of flies secure and bone dry. With room for up to 210 flies, our signature waterproof gasket, and a 100% recycled plastic outer shell, this highly versatile box seems to make its way into the bag every time we hit the water.

Simms Boxers

Keep your goods dry and fresh with Simms' Cooling Boxer Brief. Heat conquering Avra™ yarn comes together with exceptional stretch to provide all-day support and comfort for your adventures in or out of the water.

Well, folks, that about does it for me this week here at Trouts. As I mentioned before, if you enjoy these sorts of weekly recaps, let me know over email. If you have questions, comments, or lingering thoughts about flies, we have you covered. As always, come swing by the shop, have a beer on the back deck and enjoy our space. If you enjoyed today's post or have some comments, please send them over to my Instagram or email brandon@troutsflyfishing.com or brandonrod15 on Instagram. As always, get out.

Gas up the truck, load up the fly boxes, and enjoy the weekend. Oh, and make sure to take The Tape Deck with you.
