TRAVEL UPDATE: Yellow Dog's Commitment to Their Customers

Ivan Orsic / Mar 11, 2020

We wanted to share this piece from Yellow Dog Fly Fishing addressing the current travel situation.

From the desk of Yellow Dog Fly Fishing's Jim Klug.

"I want to personally reach out to our loyal Yellow Dog customers and friends and address the current coronavirus situation: a topic that continues to dominate the airwaves and news outlets. For those of us who love to travel – and those with trips on the books for the near future – it is the uncertainty itself that is the challenge.

Like everyone in the travel business, Yellow Dog is feeling the very real effects of the panic and anxiety attached to this situation. Throughout all of this turmoil, we are working hard to take care of our customers – while remembering that all of this will eventually pass. Bookings and operations are our lifeblood and our focus here at Yellow Dog, and while things may seem uncertain at this exact moment in time, it is times like this where the decision to work with and book with Yellow Dog truly makes the difference. We are taking a proactive approach whenever and wherever we can, and the infrastructure that we have in place – as well as our years of industry experience – allows for close monitoring and helpful communication on a daily basis.

First and foremost, we want all of our Yellow Dog clients to know that your safety and comfort when traveling matter to every member of our team. We also understand that while everyone is in a different place when it comes to what is best for you and your family, there are still hundreds of thousands of people traveling each day, just as they do during the traditional cold and flu season.

While we cannot directly control how individual lodges and operators enforce their individual cancellation and rebooking policies, we are doing what we can to work with our customers who need to adjust their plans. The entire Yellow Dog team is available to assist in any way that we can. We have the tools in place to present options and solutions that will allow you to make the very best travel decisions for the near future.

On a more positive note...

  • We have a number of incredible last-minute deals and “cancellation specials” that have obviously opened up in the weeks and months ahead. We’ve also seen the airline industry launch massive fare sales and specials along with more flexible booking and cancellation policies. To view last-minute travel opportunities and deals, please be sure to visit the “Current Trip Specials” section on the Yellow Dog website. We are updating this page on a daily basis.
  • Now is also a great time to reserve your trip dates for the coming summer season as well the year ahead. One thing we know for sure: when this situation DOES calm down and people jump back into their normal routine of travel, the demand for prime dates and reservations at the best lodges is going to be through the roof. We understand that in today’s world, travel is a big part of our lives, which is why it can’t – and shouldn’t – simply stop. Now is a GREAT time to reserve dates and make your reservations for the coming summer and fall seasons, as well as for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
  • And finally, for those who still have the need to fish, yet are unsure about long flights and international trips in the weeks or months ahead, Yellow Dog has an incredible line-up of options in the US and Alaska, in Canada, and close to home in the Bahamas, the Yucatan and throughout the Caribbean.

Please be assured that Yellow Dog is closely monitoring this situation, and while our top priority is always the safety of our clients, we remain optimistic about the future of fishing travel, about our shared love for adventure, and about the important role that fishing plays in all of our lives. We hope you feel the same way.

In closing, I am excited about the coming summer season and the places that I personally plan to visit in the months ahead. I have a tarpon trip planned for West Africa in April, I’m headed to Cuba in May, and then I have a family trip – with my three kids – to Alaska in June. I know things can change, but for now, I’m looking forward to getting out on the water and experiencing some great adventures in the months ahead.

Thank you for your continued trust in Yellow Dog, and – most importantly – for your business. I know that I speak for everyone on the Yellow Dog team when I tell you how much your loyalty and bookings mean to all of us.

Sincerely,

Jim Klug | Director of Operations | Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures
