Trouts Guide Service Report: 7/8

Ivan Orsic / Jul 8, 2015

Despite the high water -although it is steadily on it's way down- Trouts Guide Service was still quite busy through the 4th of July holiday. Recent trips have found our guides on both our public and private water stretches and fish were coming to the net daily. It doesn't get much better than that.

Given the conditions, the most productive rig has still been a big fly (worm, stonefly, big beadhead) trailed by something slightly smaller. You can still get away with slightly heavier tippet than normal but don't hesitate to downsize if you aren't getting the results you're looking for. Lastly, be prepared to get on the chase once you hook a fish. The big fish still know the high water drill and aren't hesitating to make a mad dash downstream once they feel the prick of steel in their lips. The rivers are getting into their summertime swing and a variety of hatches are starting to be spotted on a daily basis- I'd recommend carrying baetis, pmd's, caddis and stoneflies with you to ensure all your bases are covered.

Thanks again for keeping an eye on the Blog and as always, please let us know how we can make your time on the water more productive and enjoyable! Better yet, give us a call or swing by the shop to book your very own guided trip today! In the meantime, check out a few pics from a couple of our recent outtings.
