Trouts Hosted Trip- Isla Holbox Tarpon Lodge

Ivan Orsic / Feb 25, 2015

If catching Tarpon has ever been on your “To-Do” list, then this trip is for you. Trouts Fly fishing will be heading down to Mexico in 2015 to chase what could easily be considered one of the most fun fish to catch on a fly. Holbox Tarpon Lodge is the only lodge on Holbox Island dedicated strictly to fly-fishing.

Details:

When: June 20-25, 2015

Fishing: Isla Holbox is without a doubt home to one of the world’s most outstanding tarpon habitats. The shallow mangrove lagoons, creeks and flats surround the small island are home to countless baby tarpon (5-15lbs) as well as snook. Aside from the local resident baby tarpon, Trouts will be heading down during the prime time to target the larger, migratory tarpon that frequent this area from late spring through summer. These migratory tarpon, ranging in the 75-200lb size class, love to eat a well presented fly and are one of the best fighting fish an angler could hope to find. Guests will leave the resort each morning after breakfast and enjoy a full day’s fishing in the shallow waters surrounding the island.

Lodging: Guests will spend their nights at the comfortable main lodge on the property. Tastefully decorated and including all the comforts of home, the lodge rooms also feature comfortable lounge furniture and hammocks for ultimate relaxation when not fishing.

Dining: Making sure guests enjoy incredibly tasty food and drink is a priority for Holbox. Conveniently located next to the Gulf of Mexico, Holbox has the ultimate grocery store waiting just steps away. Guests will enjoy daily caught lobster, shrimp, calamari and the freshest of fish. Breakfast is served continental style each morning and lunch is served on the boats during fishing days. Happy Hour is also a daily tradition and signature hors d’ouevres and cold beers will be waiting for anglers as they step off the boats each day.

Travel Details: Guests will fly into Cancun and arrive no later than 1pm. Transportation is then provided via private van from Cancun to the small coastal town of Chiquila (approx. 2.5 hour drive). Guests will then take a final 30 minute ferry ride from Chiquila to Holbox Island

Rates: 5 nights/ 4 Fishing Days $1995
