Trouts River Report: Pueblo Tailwater

Ivan Orsic / Jan 12, 2016

The Trouts crew recently headed to the Arkansas Tailwater below Pueblow Reservoir for a day of fishing. I mean afterall, when the boss says, "we're closing up the shop for a staff fishing day" one is wise not to argue. The temps were chilly but the midge and blue wing olive activity that spanned the majority of the day had a funny way of warming everyone up. Strange how that can happen.

While the big fish known to haunt this stretch of river were fairly elusive, the numbers of 10-15"ers eager to inhale a properly drifted size 20 dry fly more than made up for it.

This stretch of the Ark fishes great throughout the winter. It's an easy two hour drive from Denver and if you'v never checked it out before, make it a point to this season!
