WATCH: Five Flies for May 2019

Ivan Orsic / May 1, 2019

It's officially stillwater season. We've waited for ice off to come to our favorite reservoirs and winter finally gave up its grip. Spinney opened on Saturday. 11 Mile opened on Monday. Antero opens today. With runoff on the way, it's a great time to familiarize yourself with the region's great stillwater options and some of the damn good trout that reside in them.

With our favorite stillwater options still closed at the time of filming this month's installment of Five Flies, we called in a little favor to our good friend, Guide and Umpqua Signature Fly Designer Bob Reece.

Bob guides exclusively on a little slice of stillwater heaven. Horse Creek Ranch. Located outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming, just two hours from Denver, we had the opportunity to fish to some rainbows, browns, cutthroat, and brookies on the property. If you're looking for more info on Horse Creek Ranch, check out Bob's website HERE.
