TRIP SUMMARY

Good day at Deckers. Upon arrival to the river at 8:00am there were already dozens of vehicles in every parking lot near Trumbull. So we decided to head down river and start near Nighthawk. We found a few fish in the deeper runs, most of them taking a size 20 Barr’s Emerger. We headed back up river for lunch and had a nice afternoon after the crowds dissipated. Blue wings olives started to come off around 1:00 and we were able to pick off risers with a size 20 sparkle dun. The wind picked up a little and made presenting a dry challenging so we switched back and forth between nymphing and casting dries. Our top fly was a size 20 Barr’s Emerger for the remainder of the afternoon, accounting for several nice browns. A little crowded but still a nice day on the river.
