TRIP SUMMARY

The Williams Fork tailwater is running at extremely low flows at the moment, I would recommend waiting for a bump up to at least 50 CFS before trying your hand at this technical tailwater. You can see almost every fish in each hole, with that you must take a stealthy approach. 5x or 6x tippet is necessary. Small midges and attractor patterns can get the job done. Use yarn or a hopper as your indicator, these fish will spook extremely easily. We found one very nice fish and it did indeed eat a size 12 golden chubby from the surface. While this experience was quite the rush, we had to really work for it. Before you head to the Williams Fork, ask yourself how hard you are willing to work for a quality fish, there may be better options out there this time of year.
