TRIP SUMMARY

Really great day at Abell Ranch. The flows are a little low but the fish were very active from start to finish. Olive leeches, size 20 pheasant tails and size 20 Barr’s emergers were the hot flies. We primarily nymphed most of the day. There was a really good hatch of blue wings that started around 1:30pm but it was so windy we couldn’t get a drift. Most of the bugs were getting sunk due to wind chop as well so fishing the barrs emerger shallow produced quite a few fish in the net. We were able to land a couple on dries but it was extremely challenging. Abell is fishing as good as it gets right now!
