River Information

Gore Creek is a wonderful little tributary of the Eagle River. Running through the Vail Valley, this 18-mile long freestone is farily small in stature but can hold some truly great fish. Gore Creek can be fished 12 months a year and offers anglers the opportunity to catch Brown, Rainbow, Cutthroat, and Brook trout-- often by sight fishing them. This river sees abundant bug life as well.

Seasonal Conditions

Gore Creek can be fished year round and can provide 12 months of dry fly fishing. Sight fishing (typically nymphing) can be very productive during the winter as long as light tippets and a fair bit of stealth are used. Summer time brings about abundant bug life and can offer some fantastic dry/dropper fishing. During the warmer months look for Mayflies, Caddis, Stoneflies and Terrestrials to all put fish in the net.

RECOMMENDED FLIES

Winter/Spring: Midges, Baetis

Summer: Caddis, Mayflies, Stoneflies, Terrestrials

Fall: Midges, Caddis, Baetis, some Terrestrials, small Streamers.
